Organization had always been a passion of mine, even as far back as grade school, you could find me helping to organize my friend's desks. Fast forward many years and I was living the life of a busy career professional and going to through my master's program. I began to take an interest in continuous improvement and lean systems as a way to simplify organizations and cut out waste that often clutters processes.

 

Fast forward a few more years and I found myself living a busy if not chaotic life. A mom of three children, two dogs and still a busy career professional and home maintainer, something had to give. I realized I felt the most at peace with limited clutter and simplified home systems, so I set out on a mission to clear out as much as possible. I also focused on giving each space/room in our house a purpose so it was easy to identify when things were out of place, and we could quickly get them back to their natural state. I found that using Lean Principles of 5s set a great base for these decluttering processes. Now, even when the days get the best of me, getting my house back to a state of equilibrium and simplicity takes a short time and I have much more time for my family and work.
